GTA V Missions

Post by mutantblues on 17/12/2013, 09:37

might be spoilers if you've not completed the game.

I found the standard of missions in GTA V to be very inconsistent. At times the game is brilliant and entertaining, putting the crew together and switching between the three characters can really add to the game. But it can also be very boring, stupid and a bit over the top with violence. Taking a dog for a walk or working in the docks is not really all that fun. Some of the things Trevor does are kind of messed up, like killing that couple at the safe house, and did any one enjoy torturing that guy? Not sure any of that is really needed in the game.

If you do the 100% list then you are in for a lot of boredom, really just don't bother trying it. There are the triathlons, becasue bank robbers love those, the last of which will require you to bash the A button for 30 minutes. Or the cult based missions were you have to wear the same clothes for ten days or walk in the desert for five miles. Collecting toxic waste takes for ever in a submarine that hardly moves.

It also seems that buying properties have now been made rather pointless and you don't feel like you're building up an empire with them and you get very little money from them. And unless you leave the assassin missions until after the story ends how can you enough money to buy all the proprieties?

There are stranger missions that time out as well with out you having ever been aware of them.

big spoiler alert.

One of the last missions has the three of you killing all the people who have been giving you grief through out the game. Fair enough but why not just do that at the start of the game? That one mission makes the story a bit pointless.

There is a really good game there but there is also a boring and badly thought out game there as well.

I loved the sp, but I agree with some of your gripes. I missed out on a couple of side missions, coz I didn't even know they were there Shocked

Yeah, I never bothered with the side missions, just played the story through then went straight into online. I guess some people do like the triathlons etc so they have been catered for, at least you're not forced to do them  Razz
Trevor is the best character in the game, the twisted messed up mofo lol!
Online missions cheese me off mind, I don't consider pvp deathmatches/dogfights a mission, I would join the deathmatch playlist if I wanted that! I haven't played for a while now, too many bell-ends rolling around in tanks...just ruined it for me  Sad

I finished the sp a few weeks ago and I choose to save them all and to take down the rest of them ha ha! I agree about the property and the money... and what is the point of car customization etc if you only have 2 places to store them?? I always thought there should have been an option to buy houses and more garages to store cars...! Apparently this is available online but for those who don't have gold the game really seems very unfinished, some of the heists weren't that great but some were fun to do!

I think we will have much more fun playing watch dogs when it gets released!

I enjoyed all the extra unnecessary stuff the first time round. Did all the collectibles, jumps, side missions, took part in all the sports. Love how the golf mini game is better than a lot of actual golf games.

All this stuff isn't for everyone, but it fleshes a game out for me, i'm looking forward to doing it again.

If we get decent uptake for the One version I would love to do the online thing. Never got into it on the 360!

I'm hoping to be a lot more focused on the online this time round, and just complete the single player as and when I feel like it.

Only had 5-10 hours online so far and have already had a hoot!!

I'll be on one night this weekend so will keep an eye out for any ARCers!!

Just played around 3 hours but man o man what a masterpiece. Jonah Hill getting swindled at the car dealership was ace. What a way to start off with the Franklin story line. As always, satire is top notch. Clever and accurate. I spent an hour just browsing the internet, looking at ads, bleeter posts, etc. The world is huge and there's sooo much to see and do. Loved the use of Chop the dog, graphics are outstanding.... No one does it like Rockstar. They are the very best.

The further you get in the better it gets, with more and more things popping up for you to do. The first time I played I was worried as the percentage complete counter on my save had jumped up to about 15% after a few missions. I thought the game was gonna be too short. Boy was I wrong!! Be sure to enjoy all the side quests and activities and don't rush the main story. And keep browsing the internet, some of the better missions start there Wink

oh i will take my sweet time. I also spent 10 min looking at tv. As usual, insane satirical absurdity. Really hilarious stuff. I dont even need to play this game. I can just walk around having a good laugh at everyone .

The police arent the brightest either- i oulled alongside one at the traffic lights and gave him the middle finger. His response was to get out and start shooting. Into the pursuit he followed me down a dead end road and i stopped at the end. I saw him coming tiwards me- lights flashing etc.... He then turned up a side street. then wanted level was gone yay!
