The future of ARC

Post by Keltic on 27/3/2018, 12:07

Hi folks, I've been thinking on the future of Arc and as things stand the site is not sustainable. My personal preference is to develop the site as a place to discuss latest game news and reviews etc across console and pc platforms and use it as a place to discuss what games we're currently playing and want to play with others etc.
Another change to consider is pro gaming for those who want it. Years ago when we founded arc hardcore gaming was fairly toxic but nowadays its become more mainstream and is a lot more regulated etc.
Co op gaming, this is a personal preference, With many of us being in the slightly older category co op gaming is a way forward to get clan members back online together, whether is completing a campaign together or something like horde modes in Gears of War or Mass Effect etc.

These are just a couple of ideas to consider , some, none or all may be implemented but for time being its just a starting point for members to discuss what they want to see Arc become.

Sounds good, I think a lot of people are cross platform these days. What about incorporating stuff like Twitch and streaming? I hear that's what the kids are into these days.

That has begun, i started with those registered but never logged in and a load from 2 years back with a single post, about 30 in total deleted in that run.

Definitely something to look at, not quite sure how to go about and incorporate it as to be honest ive not bothered with either much.

I'm good mate - how's you? I pretty much packed in gaming for ages but got GR Wildlands & AC Origins so had been playing them a bit on the box. Got a new PC too so been doing XCOM & strategy gaming on that. I'm off over to the states soon so have been thinking about picking up an Oculus.

Re: The future of ARC

Ive made a number of changes to the site, nothing major, mostly house keeping stuff. A fair number of forum boards have been deleted and their posts moved to wherever was most appropriate. Some tidy up within boards, old sticky posts dropped off the top etc, basically with the move of more users to the app i felt it best to simplify things.
I've also went through the first round of deletions, all either never activated or with a single post from a number of years back, around 30 in total. I'm also looking at another 30 deletions early next week of accounts that have been inactive for 999+ days. Basically just giving people a chance to see the emails and messages sent.

Yup, just the beginning probably, over the next number of weeks I'll decrease the inactive time. I think once we sort out who's active then we need to actively recruit new members.
